Our Story

Boston-based Hospitality Marketing Solutions was established in 1985 by Lyssa MacCaughey after leaving a storied career as Director of Sales in several major hotels across the United States. Having risen to the top of her field, Lyssa became a certified sales professional and expert in the area of hospitality sales under the Professional Selling Skills model. Born out of a need expressed by the explosion of new properties across the hospitality landscape, Hospitality Marketing Solutions quickly grew to be known as the ‘gold standard’ in hospitality sales training.

After thirty-four years as President, Lyssa handed the torch of ownership over to Kate Foster in October 2019 and will be enjoying her role as a part-time consultant at a more relaxed pace.

I’m so proud of the skills we have taught to thousands of sales professionals over the years, yet I know it’s time for the company to evolve even further. I’m confident Kate’s vision for the company will enable Hospitality Marketing Solutions to continue to provide our clients with the most-up-to-date sales methods while incorporating the latest technology.

A seasoned professional in the world of hospitality sales herself, Kate brings over two decades of sales experience to the team and a fresh perspective. Recently chosen by LA Confidential Magazine as one of LA’s Women of Influence, she joins a power team of other strong women with a wide variety of hotel backgrounds and hands-on experience. The team is a made up of certified sales trainers that have at one time in their career worked as Director of Sales in large hotel collections across the country.

Kate is excited to be bringing Hospitality Marketing Solutions to the City of Angels as its new Headquarters. 

“Los Angeles is the hub of so much within the hotel industry, I’m excited to be closer to some of our largest clients. We will continue to operate our North-East branch out of Boston and we have plans to be opening a South-East branch in North Carolina in late 2020.”
